Commentary: Darier-White Disease

TLDR The conclusion is that Darier-White disease was accurately described by White but he missed the key feature of dyskeratotic cells which Darier identified.
In 1889, James C. White and Ferdinand Jean Darier independently described a skin condition now known as Darier-White disease. White's clinical description was detailed but missed identifying dyskeratotic cells, the key histopathologic feature of the disorder, and incorrectly suggested that hair follicles were primarily affected. Darier correctly identified the dyskeratotic regions in the epidermis. This condition, also referred to as keratosis follicularis or psorospermose folliculaire végétante, became recognized as a distinct dermatological entity.

Finasteride and dutasteride can improve skin texture and reduce acne by lowering DHT but do not reverse aging. They may enhance skin and hair health for some, but can also cause side effects like dry skin and sexual dysfunction.

Oral copper supplementation significantly improved hair regrowth for someone who experienced severe hair loss after stopping minoxidil, suggesting copper deficiency might hinder minoxidil's effectiveness. The user now only takes copper and occasionally uses microneedling, recommending others to try copper if minoxidil alone isn't effective.
