TLDR Temporary hair loss can occur after 5-fluorouracil treatment for keloids.
The document reported a case of transient chemotherapy-induced alopecia in a 58-year-old man after intralesional 5-fluorouracil treatment for keloids. The patient experienced temporary hair loss in the beard area surrounding the treated keloids, which regrew several weeks after the treatment. This side effect had not been previously documented for localized intralesional chemotherapy for keloids. The study highlighted the importance of dermatologists being aware of this potential side effect and counseling patients accordingly.
