This review explores the complex role of cellular senescence in human skin, highlighting its dual beneficial and detrimental effects. It emphasizes the potential of targeting cellular senescence with senolytic and senomorphic agents, including plant-based derivatives, to address aging processes. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of skin cellular senescence could lead to effective treatments for senescence-related skin disorders, such as wound healing and cosmetic aging. The review suggests that both prosenescent and antisenescent therapies may be necessary, depending on the specific context.
