    The study focused on characterizing the cellular diversity and molecular signatures within the hair follicle dermal stem cell (hfDSC) lineage to better understand tissue regeneration and develop new wound-healing strategies. Researchers used a novel FACS strategy to isolate adult hfDSCs and their progeny, performing RNA-seq to establish gene expression signatures for specialized fibroblasts of the hair follicle. They identified signature genes, such as Rspo2/3, Grem2, and Hic1, that control fibroblast function.
