Fluorescence-Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) is a specialized type of flow cytometry that allows researchers to sort and separate a mixture of cells based on specific fluorescent markers attached to them. By passing cells through a laser beam, FACS can detect and quantify the fluorescence emitted by each cell, enabling the isolation of distinct cell populations for further analysis or experimentation.
