TLDR Certain herbs may help treat hair loss by extending hair growth phases.
The study explored the potential of certain herbs, including Phyllanthus emblica, Indigofera tinctoria, Eclipta alba, Lawsonia alba, Hibiscus rosasinensis, and Bergamia koeingii, to induce catagen reversion as a treatment for alopecia. It was observed that these herbal extracts could activate hair root cells, increase the active phase of cells, and promote their multiplication in a tissue culture medium. The research suggested that while the telogen phase could not be reversed, it could be prolonged, and similarly, the anagen phase could also be extended. The study proposed catagen reversion as a viable approach to treating hair loss, supported by scientific evidence.
