CARI ONE Induces Anagen Phase of Telogenic Hair Follicles Through Regulation of β-Catenin, Stimulation of Dermal Papilla Cell Proliferation, and Melanogenesis

TLDR CARI ONE helps start hair growth and makes hair follicles bigger and more numerous.
In 2014, researchers studied the effects of CARI ONE, a blend of medicinal plants and mushrooms, on hair growth in telogenic C57BL/6N mice. The results showed that CARI ONE topically applied to the mice induced an earlier shift from the resting phase (telogen) to the growth phase (anagen) of hair follicles, extended the duration of the mature anagen phase, and increased both the number and size of hair follicles when compared to both a control group and a group treated with 1% minoxidil. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed an earlier increase in β-catenin and Trp-1 proteins in the hair follicles of the CARI ONE-treated mice. Additionally, in vitro tests demonstrated that CARI ONE enhanced the proliferation of dermal papilla cells and increased melanin production in B16F10 cells without compromising their viability. These findings indicate that CARI ONE may promote hair growth by triggering the anagen phase in dormant hair follicles.

Dermal papillae cells, important for hair growth, come from multiple cell lines and can be formed by skin cells, regardless of their origin or hair cycle phase. These cells rarely divide, but their ability to shape tissue may contribute to their efficiency in inducing hair growth.
