TLDR Ginkgo biloba leaf extract may help hair regrowth and improve heart health.
In a study from 1993, a 70% ethanolic extract from Ginkgo biloba leaves (GBE) was found to promote hair regrowth in C3H strain mice, both on a normal diet and those pretreated with a high butter diet. The study also observed that GBE inhibited blood platelet aggregation, thrombin activity, and fibrinolysis, and prevented the increase of serum triglyceride levels in rats fed a high cholesterol diet. These findings suggested that GBE could potentially be used as a hair tonic due to its positive effects on hair regrowth and its cardiovascular benefits.
