TLDR BRG1 is essential for skin cells to move and heal wounds properly.
The study investigated the function of BRG1, a chromatin remodeler, in human skin wound healing and found that it is upregulated in keratinocytes during this process. Inhibiting BRG1 resulted in delayed wound closure due to impaired keratinocyte migration, without affecting cell proliferation or death. Transcriptome analysis revealed that BRG1 activates genes important for cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization, which are necessary for the movement of keratinocytes. The research concluded that BRG1 is critical for the transcriptional activation of keratinocyte migration during the healing of skin wounds.
