TLDR The bio-based complex effectively repairs and protects chemically damaged hair.
This study evaluates a novel bioactive crosslink repair complex, containing itaconic acid, arginine, D-panthenol, and polysaccharides from linseed and chia, for its protective and restorative effects on chemically damaged hair. The complex was tested in a bleaching mixture and a leave-in conditioner. Results showed that the complex significantly improved hair's tensile strength, shine, and combability, while maintaining cuticle alignment when used in the bleaching mixture. Additionally, it restored tensile strength and denaturation in damaged hair when used as a repair treatment. These findings suggest that the complex effectively prevents and reverses chemical damage, offering a sustainable solution for hair care formulations.
