TLDR Finasteride effectively reduces excess hair in women with certain conditions.
The study evaluated the effects of finasteride on 24 hirsute women with idiopathic hirsutism or polycystic ovary syndrome, divided into placebo and finasteride groups. Over 6 months, finasteride significantly reduced the Ferriman-Gallwey score and dihydrotestosterone levels compared to placebo, indicating a reduction in hirsutism. Other hormone levels showed no significant changes. All finasteride-treated patients reported a perceived reduction in hirsutism, suggesting finasteride's effectiveness for treating hirsute women with these conditions.
