TLDR Basal cell carcinoma with matrical differentiation is a rare type linked to hair follicles, with .-catenin important for its development.
Basal cell carcinoma with matrical differentiation was an extremely rare variant, with only 12 cases previously described in the literature. This study presented two additional cases and investigated the expression of .-catenin and osteopontin to understand their biological significance and diagnostic utility. The findings suggested that these carcinomas belonged to a spectrum of lesions derived from hair follicles, with .-catenin playing a crucial role in tumor development, differentiation, and behavior.
