Autologous Mini Punch Graft in Vitiligo: A Narrative Review

    Gusti Nyoman Darmaputra
TLDR Autologous mini-punch grafting can effectively repigment stable vitiligo, but has some risks and limitations.
Autologous mini-punch grafting is a surgical technique used to treat vitiligo by transplanting small skin pieces to achieve re-pigmentation and cosmetically satisfactory results. It is indicated for patients with stable, facial, or minor vitiligo, especially when non-surgical therapies have failed. However, it is contraindicated in cases of active or progressive vitiligo, keloid tendencies, large affected areas, and unstable medical conditions. The most common complication is cobblestoning, with graft rejection also occurring, particularly in herpes labialis-induced lip leukoderma. The technique shows promising results, achieving up to 75% repigmentation in 78% of patients.
