TLDR There's no significant link between the D19S884 marker at the insulin receptor gene and polycystic ovary syndrome.
In 2002, a study involving 108 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and 66 healthy controls from Spain and Italy was conducted to examine the relationship between the D19S884 marker at the insulin receptor gene locus and PCOS. Contrary to previous studies, no significant association was found between the D19S884 marker and PCOS in these populations. The researchers suggested that the difference in results could be due to genetic heterogeneity in their samples or varying environmental factors like lifestyle, diet, and exercise. The study concluded that PCOS is a complex disorder influenced by multiple genomic variants and environmental factors.
