Androgen Receptor CAG Repeat Length Is Associated With Ovarian Reserve But Not With Ovarian Response

    The study, involving 147 oocyte donors and 355 controlled ovarian hyperstimulation cycles, explored the relationship between CAG repeat length in the androgen receptor (AR) gene and ovarian function. It found that the CAG repeat length was significantly associated with antral follicle count (AFC), a measure of ovarian reserve, indicating that a higher number of repeats might be linked to a greater AFC. However, the CAG repeat length did not significantly affect the ovarian response to gonadotrophins, as evidenced by similar stimulation days, gonadotrophin doses, and the number of oocytes retrieved across different CAG repeat lengths. The study concluded that while the AR gene CAG polymorphism may be related to ovarian reserve, it does not influence the response to ovarian stimulation or clinical outcomes in the context of egg donation.
