TLDR The red Hibiscus rosa-sinensis flower has the highest antioxidant activity.
The study evaluated the antioxidant potential of four cultivars of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (red, pink, white, and yellow flowers) using the HPLC-DPPH method. The methanolic extracts were analyzed for total phenolic and flavonoid content. All cultivars exhibited significant antioxidant activity, with the red cultivar showing the highest levels of phenolics, flavonoids, and antioxidant activity. The findings highlighted the potential of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis flowers as natural antioxidants and demonstrated significant variations in phytochemical content among the different cultivars, contributing to their bioactivity.
