TLDR Dates may improve heart health, fight infections, protect kidneys, reduce inflammation, support pregnancy, promote dental and bone health, enhance mental function, and have anti-cancer properties, and are also beneficial for skin and hair care.
Dates, particularly the Ajwa variety, have been identified as having a range of health benefits, including cardiovascular, antimicrobial, nephroprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory properties, and benefits during pregnancy. They are also associated with reduced tooth decay, improved bone health, mental clarity, and have anti-cancer, anti-tumor, cardio-protective, and neuroprotective activities. Date fruits and seeds are rich in essential nutrients and have medicinal properties. They are used in cosmetics and beauty products, with date seed oil showing positive effects on skin and hair. This oil has high oxidative stability, can protect against UV rays, and repair skin. Additionally, bioactive compounds in dates, such as flavonoids and phenolics, may prevent hair loss and promote hair growth by maintaining a healthy scalp and supporting the nourishing functions of sebaceous glands and hair follicles. These findings suggest that dates could be a valuable addition to both diet and skincare regimens.
