TLDR Albizia saponaria bark extract, especially the ethyl acetate fraction, is a strong antioxidant source.
The study evaluated the antioxidant activity, total phenolic, and flavonoid contents of Albizia saponaria L. bark extract, focusing on its potential pharmaceutical applications. The ethyl acetate fraction showed the strongest antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 35.27 µg/mL (DPPH method) and 60.04 µg/mL (ABTS assay), and contained the highest total phenolic (4.50 mg/g GAE) and flavonoid (3.55 mg/g QE) contents. A strong correlation was observed between antioxidant activity and both phenolic and flavonoid content, indicating that these compounds contribute significantly to the extract's antioxidant properties. This suggests the ethyl acetate fraction could be a valuable source of antioxidants, although further research is necessary to isolate and develop its active components for medicinal use.
