Interest of an Anti-Hair Loss Shampoo Supplement Used Alone and in Association with the Reference Treatment in the Management of Hair Loss

TLDR The shampoo helps reduce hair loss and improves Minoxidil® absorption.
The study investigated the effects of a hair loss supplement shampoo, both alone and in combination with Minoxidil®, on hair growth. In the first study, 45 women with acute telogen effluvium used the shampoo three times a week for 12 weeks, resulting in a significant increase in anagen hair count and a decrease in telogen hair count, with the anagen/telogen ratio increasing by 61% and 74% after 6 and 12 weeks, respectively. The hair pull test and macrophotographs confirmed the shampoo's benefits. The second study showed that pre-treatment with the shampoo significantly enhanced Minoxidil® penetration into hair follicles, with 1.41μg of Minoxidil® recovered compared to 0.29μg without the shampoo. These findings demonstrated the shampoo's effectiveness in managing hair loss and enhancing Minoxidil® absorption.

Various explanations for the cause of this were discussed, such as DHT build-up in scalp sebum causing an autoimmune response leading to inflammation and eventual hair loss, with some suggesting a do-it-yourself treatment involving adding ascorbic acid powder to shampoo.
