TLDR No link was found between hair patterns and prostate cancer risk in South Indian men.
This case-control study investigated the association between androgenic hair patterns and prostate cancer risk in 117 Dravidian men with prostate cancer and 123 controls with benign prostatic hyperplasia in the Cauvery Delta, Tamil Nadu, India. The study found no significant association between androgenic alopecia or hypertrichosis and prostate cancer. The results suggest that interethnic variations in androgen receptor polymorphisms and environmental factors may influence prostate cancer risk differently compared to Western populations. Further research is needed to understand how androgenic traits affect prostate cancer across different ethnic groups.
