In a case-control study involving Dravidian men from Tamil Nadu, researchers found no significant link between androgenic alopecia or hypertrichosis and prostate cancer. This contrasts with findings from Western populations, indicating that differences in androgen receptor polymorphisms, follicular sensitivity, and environmental factors may affect prostate cancer risk across ethnicities. Further research is necessary to understand the role of androgenic traits in prostate cancer development among diverse ethnic groups.
