TLDR People with androgenetic alopecia have a higher risk of heart disease.
The study assessed cardiovascular risk in patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by measuring high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and lipoprotein a (Lp(a)) levels, involving 30 AGA patients and 25 healthy controls. Results indicated that AGA patients had significantly higher levels of serum Lp(a) and hs-CRP, which were positively correlated with the severity of AGA. Both markers were effective in predicting cardiovascular risk, with hs-CRP identified as an independent risk factor. The study concluded that AGA patients had a higher risk for cardiovascular diseases, and hs-CRP and Lp(a) could serve as predictors for cardiovascular risk in these patients. The study suggested lifestyle modifications and early CVD screening for AGA patients, though it noted the limitation of a small sample size and called for further research.
