TLDR Minoxidil effectively improved hair loss in a teenage girl with androgenetic alopecia.
A 16-year-old girl with a 5-year history of diffuse hair loss on the crown was diagnosed with adolescent androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Despite normal sex hormone levels and thyroid function, phototrichogram analysis showed diffuse hair thinning and a higher percentage of vellus hair on the vertex. With a family history of AGA, she was treated with 3% topical minoxidil. After 2 years, clinical photographs and phototrichogram showed visible improvement, indicating the effectiveness of minoxidil in treating adolescent AGA.
