TLDR Androgenetic alopecia is linked to a higher risk of metabolic syndrome.
The study investigated the association between androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in an Iranian population, involving 52 male patients with AGA and 50 control subjects. It found that the prevalence of MetS was significantly higher in the AGA group (51.3%) compared to the control group (17.8%), with notable differences in systolic blood pressure and waist circumference. The study concluded that there was a significant association between AGA and MetS, suggesting that early detection of AGA could be important for early intervention to reduce the incidence of MetS and related complications.
