TLDR Many COVID-19 patients have long-term symptoms, especially women, but certain medications may help reduce these symptoms.
This study analyzed post-COVID symptoms and risk factors for chronic post-COVID syndrome (CPCS) in 254 patients. At week 5, 87% experienced acute post-COVID symptoms, primarily fatigue, while by week 12, 54.3% had CPCS symptoms, with hair loss being the most prevalent. Female sex and specific radiological findings were significant risk factors for CPCS, whereas long-term use of angiotensin-2 receptor blockers (ARBs) was linked to fewer CPCS symptoms. The study underscores the need for customized outpatient management and long-term follow-up for COVID-19 patients to address persistent symptoms effectively.
