TLDR One-third of COVID-19 patients had long-term symptoms like hair loss and fatigue, with women, older individuals, blood group B, smokers, and those with more virus exposure at higher risk.
This study, conducted in October 2020, analyzed 484 COVID-19 patients in Borriana, Spain, and found that 33.1% experienced at least one post-COVID-19 complication six months after infection. The most common persistent symptoms were hair loss (24.8%), fatigue, loss of smell or taste, and headache. Females, individuals 35 years or older, those with blood group B, current smokers, and those with at least one COVID-19 exposure were found to be at a higher risk for these complications. The study suggests the need for active medical follow-up of post-COVID-19 patients due to the prevalence of these persistent symptoms.
