TLDR Insulin therapy helped a man with autoimmune issues regrow his hair.
A 41-year-old male with autoimmune polyglandular syndrome type 3 (APS type 3) and hyperglycemia experienced total hair regrowth within 2-3 months after successful diabetes control with insulin therapy. Despite the presence of anti-insulinoma-associated antigen 2 antibody and Hashimoto's thyroiditis, insulin therapy led to metabolic improvement and hair recovery. This case suggested that while insulin-mediated metabolic improvement might contribute to alopecia recovery in autoimmune type 1 diabetes patients, it is not the sole factor. Further studies are needed to clarify the association between APS type 3 and alopecia recovery.
