TLDR Alopecia areata and myasthenia gravis can occur as rare symptoms of breast cancer.
This document described a unique case of a 60-year-old woman who presented with acute-onset hair loss and diplopia, which were found to be secondary to alopecia areata (AA) and myasthenia gravis (MG), respectively. These conditions were identified as paraneoplastic phenomena associated with breast cancer. While AA is known to be an autoimmune condition linked with other autoimmune diseases and certain malignancies, its occurrence as a paraneoplastic syndrome is rare and typically associated with hematologic cancers. This case highlighted the unusual presentation of AA and MG as paraneoplastic syndromes in the context of breast cancer.
