TLDR Alopecia mucinosa can be treated successfully with minocycline.
Alopecia mucinosa, marked by mucin buildup in hair follicles, was linked to benign and malignant conditions and was more common in adults. It appeared in three forms: primary idiopathic, malignancy-associated, and secondary to inflammation. Treatment was difficult, but a reported idiopathic case achieved full remission with minocycline. The review covered the condition's causes, histology, prevalence, treatment options, and outcomes.
