    Alopecia mucinosa is a dermatosis characterized by erythematous, raised plaques and hair loss at affected sites, with pathological changes in the pilosebaceous apparatus. Initially described by Pinkus, similar cases were reported by Szodoray and Kreibich, with Kreibich noting cystic spaces and mucin within the pilosebaceous follicle and a perifollicular lymphocytic infiltrate.
