TLDR Human fetal placental stromal cell injections speed up healing and improve skin and hair recovery after radiation damage.
The study investigated the effects of isolated human fetal placental stromal cells (f-hPSC) on severe skin damage caused by high-dose irradiation in mice. Mice treated with f-hPSC showed significantly improved skin condition, reduced lesion severity, and promoted hair regrowth compared to untreated irradiated controls. Histological analysis revealed higher hair follicle density and reduced skin rigidity in f-hPSC treated mice. These findings suggest that f-hPSC could be a promising treatment for radiation-induced skin injuries.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 1 year ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.

community No, Finasteride as a treatment for MPB was not an "accident"

Finasteride was intentionally developed to treat BPH and later approved for male pattern baldness (MPB) due to its 5AR inhibition effects. The delay in MPB approval was due to concerns about off-label use for female hirsutism and the prioritization of treating a more debilitating condition.

community Dht kills hair, but no one says why?

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  40 upvotes 2 weeks ago
DHT affects hair follicles, contributing to hair loss, but the exact mechanism is unclear. Treatments like finasteride and minoxidil are used to manage hair loss, though they may have side effects and varying effectiveness.
