Age Estimation in Living Individuals

The study conducted a retrospective analysis of 271 age estimation reports from the Institute of Legal Medicine in Porto Velho, Brazil, covering the period from 2013 to 2019. It found that 97.79% of the cases were related to civil proceedings, with only 2.21% linked to criminal cases. The research highlighted the prevalence of age estimation tests in the Amazon region, particularly for adults and the elderly in civil cases. The study emphasized the importance of comprehensive clinical examinations, including dental assessments, and recommended radiological examinations for more precise analyses when available.
