Recent advancements in peptide drug discovery, driven by technological innovations such as computer-assisted drug discovery, gene-editing, and high-throughput screening, have enhanced the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of identifying peptide-based drugs. These drugs offer precise targeting of protein-protein interactions, a challenging area in drug discovery. A significant breakthrough is the development of proteolysis-targeting chimeras, which enable targeted protein degradation with high specificity, surpassing traditional small-molecule inhibitors. This review highlights novel methods for peptide drug discovery and the potential for therapeutic delivery of peptide-based drugs, emphasizing their ability to target previously undruggable proteins.
