TLDR Advanced platelet-rich fibrin improves healing and reduces pain in oral surgery.
This systematic review evaluates the role of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) in oral and maxillo-facial surgery, analyzing 38 studies with 1,307 patients. A-PRF, derived from the patient's blood, enhances healing, reduces postoperative pain, and improves graft integration compared to other materials. It shows benefits in soft and hard tissue management, including better epithelialization and wound healing. However, the review calls for more well-designed randomized clinical trials with larger patient groups and longer follow-up periods to fully understand A-PRF's long-term clinical implications.
