TLDR Combining Adapalene with Benzoyl Peroxide is more effective for treating mild acne than using Adapalene alone.
This study compared the efficacy of topical Adapalene (0.1% gel) as Monotherapy versus its combination with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide in treating mild Acne Vulgaris. Conducted at Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, it involved 162 patients divided into two groups. Group B, receiving the combination therapy, showed a significantly higher improvement rate (72.8%) compared to Group A with Monotherapy (51.9%), with a p-value of 0.006. The combination therapy was particularly effective for females, younger patients, and non-obese individuals, due to its synergistic anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects. The study suggests that the dual regimen is a more successful treatment option for mild Acne, with significant implications for dermatological practice in Pakistan.
