TLDR Videodermoscopy better identifies female hair loss than clinical diagnosis.
A study of 100 women with hair loss found that videodermoscopy was more accurate than clinical diagnosis in identifying female pattern hair loss. The study recommends the use of standardized diagnostic methods for FPHL diagnosis and follow-up. Accurate and timely diagnosis of FPHL is important to prevent permanent hair loss. Videodermoscopy is an effective and non-invasive method for accurately diagnosing female pattern hair loss (FPHL), providing high sensitivity and specificity compared to clinical diagnosis alone.
