TLDR 5% minoxidil foam once daily works as well as 2% minoxidil solution twice daily for female hair growth and is more convenient.
This study compared the effectiveness and safety of once-daily 5% minoxidil foam with twice-daily 2% minoxidil solution in treating androgenetic alopecia in women. The study found that the 5% minoxidil foam was as effective as and noninferior to the 2% minoxidil solution in stimulating new hair growth. The 5% minoxidil foam was also found to be significantly superior to the 2% minoxidil solution with respect to convenience of use, improved compliance, and better product acceptability. The study concluded that once-daily 5% minoxidil foam is an effective and safe product for improving hair growth in women with androgenetic alopecia.
