The study examined 162 patients aged 5-51 years to explore the link between alopecia areata and atopic diseases. It revealed that individuals with alopecia areata, particularly those with severe childhood forms, often experience polyvalent sensitization and combined atopic diseases, with seasonal pollen being the most prevalent allergen. Although the sensitization spectrum was similar for patients with and without alopecia areata, adults with the condition had fewer isolated respiratory allergies but more combined atopic diseases. The research underscores the need for early phenotyping in alopecia areata patients with allergic tendencies to effectively manage allergic inflammation progression.
