TLDR The 675 nm laser effectively improved facial acne scars in dark skin with minimal side effects.
The study evaluated the effectiveness of a 675 nm laser (RedTouch laser, DEKA M.E.L.A., Calenzano, Italy) in treating facial acne scars in three patients with darker skin types. The patients, two males and one female aged 25 to 59, underwent five treatments at 1-month intervals. The laser device was found to concentrate its activity on specific areas of the tissue, treating the fibrotic tissue that typically affects skin with acne and related scars. The Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) was used to assess treatment efficacy, with 33% of patients reporting good improvements and 67% reporting excellent improvements after the treatment. The study concluded that the use of a 675 nm laser device for acne scars provides a less aggressive treatment compared to conventional ablative laser treatments, with improvements in skin smoothing, softening, "glow effect", and texture, and short or zero recovery times.
