Treatment of Acne Scars by Fractional Bipolar Radiofrequency Energy

    TLDR Fractional bipolar RF energy safely and effectively treats acne scars.
    This study evaluated the efficacy and tolerance of fractional bipolar RF energy for treating facial acne scars in 15 healthy subjects (13 females, mean age 35.7 years). Subjects received three monthly treatments, with 10 completing the study. Physician-assessed acne scar severity significantly reduced at 1 and 3 months post-treatment. Adverse effects were minimal and transient, including erythema, dryness, bruising, and crusting erosion. Subjects reported limited discomfort and significant improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, brightness, tightness, acne scar texture, and pigmentation, with 67-92% expressing high satisfaction. Fractional bipolar RF energy was concluded to be a safe and effective treatment for acne scars.
