In this case report, an 81-year-old male with chronic kidney disease developed cardiac tamponade while on minoxidil for hypertension, highlighting the rare but serious risk of pericardial effusion from this medication and emphasizing the need for vigilant monitoring, especially in vulnerable patients.

This case report highlights a rare instance of minoxidil-induced pleuro-pericardial effusion with tamponade in a patient with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis, which improved following pericardiocentesis and discontinuation of the drug.

In this case report, a 59-year-old man experienced recurrent pericardial effusion linked to minoxidil, with serologic indications of drug-induced lupus erythematosus, underscoring the need for clinicians to consider this rare complication of widespread minoxidil use.

This case study reported the successful management of cardiac tamponade in a pregnant woman with systemic lupus erythematosus using pericardiocentesis and immunosuppressant therapy, although the patient declined cyclophosphamide treatment.
