Plerixafor, also known as AMD3100, is a medication used to mobilize hematopoietic stem cells from the bone marrow into the bloodstream, making it easier to collect them for transplantation. It works by inhibiting the CXCR4 receptor, which normally helps keep these stem cells in the bone marrow.
