research Study on the Formulation and Characterization of a Photoprotective Cream Containing a Newly Synthesized Compound

4 citations , September 2020 in “Journal of Mind and Medical Sciences”
The study focused on developing a photoprotective cream using a newly synthesized organic sunscreen compound created from the condensation of sodium salt of p-aminosalicylic acid with 2,6-dichloroacetanilide. This compound was combined with metal oxides and various natural extracts to enhance its emollient, protective, and moisturizing properties. The compound was encapsulated into nanostructured lipid carriers to minimize the amount of UV filter needed. The resulting cream exhibited favorable skin application qualities, including appropriate pH, viscosity, and spreadability, and achieved a satisfactory SPF value of 16. The new compound was also shown to be non-toxic.
