February 2023 in “Stem Cell Research & Therapy” The study investigates the therapeutic effects of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)-modified hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) on cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats. HFSCs were transplanted into a rat model, resulting in significant inhibition of microglia activation, improved blood-brain barrier integrity, and reduced brain edema. Additionally, HFSC transplantation increased neuron survival and microvessel density, enhancing neurological outcomes. The combination of HFSCs and HGF further improved these therapeutic benefits, suggesting that HGF-modified HFSCs can effectively reduce ischemic injury and promote neurological recovery by mitigating inflammation, protecting the blood-brain barrier, and encouraging angiogenesis.
March 2014 in “Human Physiology” DHEA improved brain function and behavior in old monkeys and had additional health benefits.
