Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1), also known as CCL2, is a signaling protein that plays a crucial role in the immune system by attracting monocytes, a type of white blood cell, to sites of inflammation or injury. This protein is important in the body's response to infection and tissue damage, but excessive MCP-1 activity can contribute to chronic inflammatory diseases.
