naturally occurring group of one to four hair follicles
A follicular unit is a naturally occurring group of one to four hair follicles that emerge from the scalp, along with associated sebaceous (oil) glands, nerves, and a small muscle called the arrector pili. This unit is the basic building block used in hair transplantation procedures, as it allows for the most natural-looking results by mimicking the way hair grows naturally.
