The KIT Proto-Oncogene Receptor Tyrosine Kinase, often referred to as c-kit or CD117, is a protein that plays a crucial role in cell signaling. Mutations in the KIT gene can lead to uncontrolled cell proliferation and are associated with various cancers, including gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs).
