June 2021 in “International Ayurvedic Medical Journal” The document presented a case study of a female patient with indralupta, which is comparable to alopecia areata, characterized by localized non-scarring hair loss. The study highlighted the limitations and side effects of conventional treatments like corticosteroids, which are not suitable for long-term use. Instead, the patient was successfully treated using Ayurvedic methods, specifically jaluaka (leech therapy) and a topical application of haridra (turmeric) and nimba (neem) lepa (paste). This case suggested that Ayurveda could offer a harmless and effective alternative for treating indralupta.
January 2024 in “International Research Journal of Ayurveda & Yoga” This case report describes the successful treatment of a 24-year-old female with alopecia areata, known as Indralupta in Ayurveda, using Ayurvedic methods. The patient underwent seven sessions of Jalaukavacharana (leech therapy) combined with Shamana Aoushadhi (Ayurvedic medication), resulting in the regrowth of lustrous black hair on the affected scalp area. The study concludes that these Ayurvedic treatments can provide a favorable outcome for patients with Indralupta.
