TLDR Ayurvedic treatment may help manage alopecia areata.
The case study explores the Ayurvedic treatment of Indralupta, identified with alopecia areata, using Jaluakavacharan. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition causing patchy hair loss, commonly treated with corticosteroid injectables, which have significant side effects and are not suitable for long-term use. The study highlights the Ayurvedic perspective, where Indralupta is considered a minor ailment (Kshudra roga) and treated with both Shaman and Shodhan therapies. The frequency of alopecia areata in India is 0.7, affecting all age groups. The study suggests that Ayurvedic treatments could offer an alternative approach to managing this condition.
