    Informed consent is a process in which a patient is given comprehensive information about a medical treatment or procedure, including its risks, benefits, and alternatives, allowing them to make a knowledgeable decision about their care. It ensures that the patient voluntarily agrees to the treatment with a full understanding of what it entails, safeguarding their autonomy and rights.
