    GlossaryEyelash Follicles

small skin structures where eyelashes originate and grow

Eyelash follicles are small, specialized structures in the skin from which eyelashes grow. Each follicle contains a hair bulb at its base, where cells divide and produce the keratin that forms the eyelash. These follicles are also connected to sebaceous glands, which secrete oils to keep the eyelashes lubricated and healthy.
